‘High Hopes’ Adds Another Week atop Alternative Airplay Chart

Despite continued audience attrition, Panic at the Disco’s “High Hopes” adds yet another week atop Mediabase’s Alternative Airplay Chart for the tracking period of 14-20 April 2019.  “High Hopes” loses 774,000 impressions from the previous tracking week to finish with an audience of 12.476 million.

Panic’s loss still places the track 1.782 million impressions ahead of Twenty-One Pilots’ “Chlorine,” which accumulated a weekly audience of 10.694 million. Following a loss of 335,000 impressions to an audience of 10.530 million, last week’s runner-up, Cage the Elephant’s “Ready to Let Go,” falls to number three.

Alternative Spins and Audience Ranks Increasingly Divergent

As reported in recent weeks, “High Hopes” has maintained a huge lead at Number One in audience, even while falling further behind in spins.  This week, “High Hopes’” audience advantage has shrunk, albeit still large, down to a little less than 1.8 million impressions over this week’s runner-up, “Chlorine.”  However, “High Hopes” has now dropped to number six in detections, and trails Twenty-One Pilots by nearly 1,000 spins.

Here are the Top 30 most-heard Alternative Airplay songs, including All tracked Stations plus Recurrents, for the week ending 20 April 2019.  These rankings are compiled by Mediabase, and reported by All Access.  This week – TW, Audience – Aud, in millions.

‘High Hopes’ Maintains Huge Audience Advantage Despite Increasing Detection Deficit

Once again, Panic at the Disco’s “High Hopes” maintains its large audience advantage, 2.106 million, over Mediabase’s most-heard Alternative Airplay Chart.  This is in spite of HH’s spin deficit of over 500 detections as compared to the most-played song, Cage the Elephant’s “Ready to Let Go.”  Rankings for this article use are from Mediabase’s (MB) All Stations plus Recurrents (AS + RC) Alternative Airplay Chart (AAC).

How “High Hopes” Spins Compare to the Other Top Five Songs

In fact, HH has fallen to number four in spins, trailing not only “Ready,” but also Twenty-One Pilots’ “Chlorine,” and Shaed’s “Trampoline.”  The other “out-of-place” song belongs to Marshmello/Bastille’s “Happier,” which ranks at number three among the most-heard songs, but number six in spins.
